Ello all,

Following the success of the October meetup we're going to make this a monthly thing. We shall be rotating around different areas of London to make the group as accessible as possible. We're also opening up the group to friends of posters who are dharma-curious, and practitioners of other contemplative/enlightenment traditions. Lurkers on this site are also very welcome, though you might want to state your intent to come on this thread or by private message to me so that we can make sure you catch us. Suggestions have included a fixed date monthly, a visit to Hampton Court Palace for AF practice, organising a pragmatic dharma retreat, and a sitting group.

However, for now I'm asking people when the best day for them to meet up in November would be. Multiple people from the previous meet have mentioned that they were going on retreat in November, so can they please re-state the dates they'll be away here so that we can make the date and time as fair as possible? Hopefully we will be able to move towards a fixed day of the month that suits as many people as possible.

Feel free to discuss logistics on this thread, or PM me if you're shy; all are very welcome. If special arrangements are required, such as help with transport or particular accessibility needs, I'm sure we can cater for that.

In terms of time and place, provisionally the meet will take place somewhere on the South Bank, take place from midday, and be before the 20th, when I go on retreat, though I wouldn't want the meet not to go ahead because the majority want to meet after that.

Couple of points I think worth putting out there:

* I don't think changing venues each month will make it easier. One place, one time is easier for people to remember, learn the route, put in their diaries etc.
* That includes the date also - maybe "first saturday/last saturday kind of thing" then you won't have to try and juggle times each month.

Simple = best!

Having said that, I'll go with whatever you all want and turn up to the ones I can make. It was good fun on Saturday!

It was the third Saturday and time midday 12. I am not sure about same place. It could be nice to meet up at Hampton Court in future or you can be interested about Czech cuisine and we could visit Czech restaurant in London http://www.czechoslovak-restaurant.co.uk/restaurant-menu/. I do not know about a convenient place at South Bank but I vote for it because it is near of Waterloo Railway station. And of course I will go with whatever you want.

I am pretty flexible as far as dates, time and location so count me in. Looking forward to next meet.

I'm just waiting for my November rota guys and then I'll set a date asap. Looking forward to catching up and meeting new peeps.

I'm on retreat 4-14th - great if it's outside of those times, but NP if not. I'd love to see a fixed date each month!

The last Saturday of November 26.11.2011 I am on my road to India (if I get VISA), I will be back 19.th December back. From 22. till 27.12. I am at monastery Cittaviveka. Other time I am free to come to any place of Great London.
I hope I will hear how it was at your retreats.

Morning all *bagpuss yawn*

Apologies for the short notice, but having finally got my work rota:

I've set the date for the next London DhO meet as 5th November 2011.

We shall meet at the Walrus Social on Lower Marsh at twelve midday, a short walk from Waterloo rail station (also linked to by the Jubilee and Northern underground lines, and many a bus route).

All are welcome, including lurkers, and friends of posters who are interested in/have a contemplative practice of any form.

If this date is horrendously inconvenient for lots of people, I'll change it. I'm thinking the date will settle down to a fixed one each month at some point as per Nick Wilson's suggestion.

Feel free to announce your intentions to turn up on this thread - if anyone needs help getting to the Walrus Social, or is a bit shy and would appreciate an introduction, then I'll be at Waterloo station under the big clock at 11:45. I'll stand there with a 'DhO' sign or something and look hairy as usual.

Also, feel free to post any questions here, or send me a private message.

Since the Walrus Social is being done up, we are going to Greensmiths, also on Lower Marsh.
